Charis Bunney is a sequential illustrator based in Caerphilly. Her personal and professional work is influenced by multimedia and experimentation. In her work, there is a fondness for watercolours and ink because of the bleeds and texture they provide. She has written and illustrated an 8-page, two-colour risograph zine for a collaborative group publication, which was exhibited as part of a cultural exchange in Stuttgart, Germany. This narrative explores the Welsh word Hiraeth, depicting the feeling of missing home so much that you are constantly searching for it but never finding it, no matter how unfamiliar or familiar the place may be; home is irretrievably lost, it is bittersweet. She is currently working on a silent narrative, traditionally illustrated piece with 20 pages. This narrative aims to invoke a feeling of anxiety and intrusiveness. She wants it to feel intrusive and suffocating, as if your personal space is being intruded upon, as well as show some of the symptoms of anxiety that you don’t normally see, but if you have experienced it, you would know.

She graduated in 2026 with a BA in Illustration from the University of South Wales. She will be pursuing an MA in graphic design at the University of South Wales starting next academic year.
